Class 3 swimming information

April 6, 2023 by billkirtley

Dear Parent

Your child will commence swimming lessons at Spennymoor Leisure Centre on Monday 17 April 2023.

In order to maintain a high standard of cleanliness within the pool and to safeguard the health of pupils using it, could you please follow the advice below:

Swimwear – Girls

Each pupil needs to bring a towel, a one-piece costume, comb or brush and a swimming hat. Please Note: Bikinis cannot be worn for these lessons.

Swimwear – Boys

Each pupil needs to bring a towel, swimming trunks, comb or brush and a swimming hat.

Costumes and trunks should not be worn to come to the pool, pupils should change on arrival.

Children with severe colds, cuts, ear complaints, athlete’s foot etc., will not be allowed to swim.  Children with verrucae should not miss their lesson, but the affected area should be covered with a suitable appropriate ointment/plaster.

Jewellery must not be worn in the pool (earrings must be removed at home if your child is unable to remove them themselves).

The wearing of goggles will be allowed, although pupils are expected to complete some tasks without them.

Children with grommets are not usually allowed to swim, unless they have permission from their doctor.

Most importantly these lessons are enjoyable and one day could save the life of your child.  If, for any reason, you are unsure about whether your child should swim or not, do not hesitate to contact us for advice.

Kind regards

Mrs Mowbray (Class Teacher)
