Welcome to our website and thank you for your interest in our school. I came to Byers Green as Deputy Head in 2013, then when our long-standing head of 17 years retired in 2023, I was lucky enough to get the job as Headteacher. I feel very fortunate to have this role and I care greatly about the school and community. As a parent of two primary aged children, I often look at things through my maternal lens as well as from my Headteacher point of view.
Our school is for children aged from 4 to 11 years and the number currently on roll is 75. The children are organized into four classes: Reception and Year 1, Year 2, Years 3/4 and Years 5/6. The published school admission limit for each year group is 15.
We pride ourselves on our warm, caring ethos which has a strong family feel. The children are at the heart of what we do and we endeavour to create a safe, inclusive and nurturing place to be. We want to create memories for life for your child. Alongside delivering an engaging and rigorous curriculum, we also aim to create fun and exciting opportunities too. We believe all children have a talent and we want to nurture and celebrate that talent.
Our school values spell REACH and we aim to REACH for the stars. Each letter stands for what we as a whole staff team truly believe:
R – resilience
E – enjoy
A – achieve
C – care
H – honesty
We really value the families in our community and often like to invite you in for craft mornings, workshops, school plays and more. We have an open door policy and are always approachable to discuss any concerns and offer support to you and your child on their journey through the primary phase.
Choosing a school for your child is an extremely important decision.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require any further information or if you would like to arrange a visit.
