Tens and ones
Teaching video Year 1 | White Rose Maths
Watch White Rose Home Learning Y1 Spring Week 5: Tens and ones
Parents and carers might have been taught to say ‘units’ rather than ‘ones’; both are acceptable.
Not all children have a worksheet this week so please could parents/carers challenge their children to make numbers up to 50 using the equipment provided.
Again, may I politely request that children look after the tens and ones apparatus carefully and keep the pieces in the bag provided? It can be returned after lockdown with the counters. Thank you.

Talk about what we have found out about castles so far; explain that today we’re going to learn about knights. What do we know about knights? Do children know any stories about knights? Remind them of our Sir Charlie Stinky Socks story!
