Y1 and Y2
Explain that we’re going to look at another text type now: information reports. Remind your child that we’ve read traditional tales, poetry, instructions and stories so far in Class 2.
Read the text Birds in Your Garden dated 23.2.21 , supporting your child if necessary; discuss what’s been read: have they seen any of these birds? Did they spot any during the Great Garden Birdwatch?What have they found out today?
Encourage your child to spot any differences between the way a story is set out and the way the report is set out.
In class, we would then look at the different features eg the title / introduction / subheadings / diagram so you might wish to do this as well.
Challenge: have a go at answering the questions too!
