English

To use adjectives and noun phrases

Remind children of the story  Charlie Stinky Socks and the Really Dreadful Spell and what we have read so far; it would be a good idea to re-read it together.

Read the next part of the story together from ‘ “Good morrow, stranger,” said Sir Charlie…………..Yikes!’

Sir Charlie Stinky Socks

Questions to ask /discuss:

  • What sort of character do we think the Mysterious Stranger is? Why? Children might talk about what the Mysterious Stranger looks like; they might spot words eg ‘sneaky smile’.
  • What are the words that are used to describe the bog?
  • What might happen next?

Activity: children can design their own maze or burgling bog on sheet dated 26.1.21.

Y1: label maze OR bog they have designed using some describing words (adjectives)

Write 5 sentences about their maze or bog.

Challenge:  Try to write longer using and to join your ideas eg The bog is deep and green.

Y2: label maze or bog they have designed  using noun phrases then write 10 sentences; please try to use a variety of different sentence types eg:

Statement: The bog is green and squelchy.

Question: Would you be able to get out of my maze?

Exclamation: What a terrifying bog!

Command: Get out of the maze now.

Again, I have also provided a paper copy of the text to support learning.

The Story of the Feeding of the 5000 – Loaves and Fishes

Talk about what you already know about Jesus and why Christians believe that he is a special person; remind them of the story of Zacchaeus from last week’s lesson.

Explain that Christians believe Jesus performed special acts called miracles. Follow the hyperlink to read the story of the Feeding of the 5000  {Loaves and Fishes} ; use code below to access powerpoint.

Online Educational Resources | Twinkl Go!

Code: TF5321

Discuss how the story shows that Jesus was special and believed that people should share food. What does this tell us about Jesus? How would you have felt if you had been there? Do you think it might have encouraged people who were there to be kinder towards others?
