Between Monday 23 and Thursday 26 September 2019 our Y5/6 children took part in bikeability training sessions. Initially the children were taught basic bicycle control skills on our school playground. They then moved on to quiet risk-assessed roads near to our school where they learned about the best position to ride on the road, how to pass parked cars and how to do left and right turns into both major and minor roads. We were proud to be awarded a certificate for being involved in this vital scheme.
Child pedestrian training
On Thursday 19 and Thursday 26 September 2019 our Y3/4 children took part in child pedestrian training sessions. Through a mixture of discussion and practical activity they learned about the road environment, the dangers of traffic and how to identify safe and unsafe crossing places. We were proud to be awarded a certificate for being involved in this vital scheme.

Summer break
We hope everyone has a great summer break. School reopens on Thursday 5 September 2019.
Break Out Brass
We had a lovely end to the summer term with an amazing outdoor performance from Break Out Brass on the morning of Friday 19 July 2019. The all-female group wowed us with their excellent musicianship and by the end we were all up and dancing conga-style. Many thanks to the ladies for adding an extra sparkle to the end of the school year.
Teddy bears’ picnic for Class 2
On Thursday 18 July 2019 Class 2 visited Gilside Cottage and Farm for an end of year teddy bears’ picnic. The children had a lovely time and would like to say thank you to Mrs Gilson (our Vice Chair of Governors) for making them feel so welcome.
Goodbye to our Y6 leavers
On the morning of Thursday 18 July 2019 we bid an emotional farewell to our Y6 leavers. Class 4 had put together a wonderful assembly, based on the Oscars ceremony, which showcased the talents of our wonderful Y6 children. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house by the end of the show. We wish all of our Y6 leavers the very best of luck for the future as they move on to their chosen secondary schools in September!
Outdoor summer disco
After school on Wednesday 17 July 2019 we all got together on the playground for a disco with a difference. This was our first outdoor school disco and it was a great success with all the children and staff having a fabulous time. Many thanks to our Friends of School group for their help in organising this event.
Sports Day
There was an even more competitive edge to our annual sports day on Monday 15 July 2019. The children, who were divided into four teams (blue, green, red and yellow), competed against other members of their year group in a variety of events to earn points for their team. We even had a visit from Active Ted who presented medals to the winning team and also special medals for those children who had clearly demonstrated one of the six School Games values (determination, honesty, passion, respect, self-belief and teamwork).
